Cobra Sport exhaust systems combine high performance and competitive prices, to give you a unique driving experience. Benefiting from an exemplary finish, these products are intended both for road or track. They optimize the power and sound of the engine, while improving the appearance of the vehicle.
Cobra Sport exhausts are made in Sheffield, England, a city famous for its industry and the invention of stainless steel. The Cobra Sport factory is designed to produce sports exhausts in large quantities, not only for individuals, but also under OEM labels for manufacturers such as Subaru, Isuzu and Ginetta Cars (to name a few).
Fits Mk7.5 R without PPF filter only.
Cobra Sport performance exhausts enhance the sound, looks and quality of your vehicle giving you the ultimate driving experience. Our sports exhausts range is fully guaranteed to give you assurance of our quality.
This VW Golf R Mk7.5 performance exhaust is made in 3"/76.2mm pipework and fit from the turbo backwards (turbo-back system), these parts replace the front pipe, centre and rear sections.
The sports cat exhaust version will enable you to pass a UK MOT emissions test or police road side checks. The de-cat exhaust version is sold for motorsport and off road use only and will NOT be able to pass a UK MOT emissions test or police road side checks.
The resonated exhaust includes the centre silencer and has a subtle but sporty tone. This exhaust however, is also available as a non-resonated version which is a louder option as it excludes the centre silencer and therefore, has a sportier exhaust note.
All relevant fittings and gaskets are supplied.
Please Note:
The 'Valved' exhaust retains the use of exhaust valves. When switching drive modes (e.g. Eco to Race mode) your exhaust tone will continue to swop from quieter to louder tones as before.
The 'Non-Valved' exhaust removes the use of exhaust valves. When switching drive modes (e.g. Eco to Race mode) your exhaust tone will not change from quieter to louder as before. Using a Non-Valved exhaust will not harm the running of your vehicle, you will simply not have exhaust sound options, however the Cobra Sport exhaust has been designed with this in mind.
Fitted images show the non-valved resonated version.
Press Release
The addition of a GPF Filter in later Mk7.5 models allows the Golf R to conform to the latest European Emissions Standards but as a trade off, it dilutes the vehicle's aural qualities, making for a performance car that doesn't quite have the bark to match it's bite. Cobra Sport have developed a solution for this in the form of their new GPF-Back Performance Exhaust System. Precision TIG-welded from T304 stainless steel, this new system is available with or without integrated valves. The valves are specially developed to integrate with the factory Driving Modes and open or close depending on the mode selected, so you can keep sound levels to a minimum or unleash the engine's full potential, depending on your mood. Regardless of what mode is selected, unwanted drone is thoroughly eliminated. In addition to this, vehicles fitted with the optional DSG gearbox will emit an enhanced sporty tone on upshifts. The GPF-Back system, as the name suggests, retains the factory Gasoline Particulate Filter, but still manages to effectively enhance the exhaust note of the vehicle's EA888 2.0 TSI engine.
Matt Thomas, Sales Manager at Cobra Sport says "The Golf R MK7 exhaust system has completed the Research and Development program, and we have now collated the performance results. Having tested the resonated cat back exhaust system on the rolling road we saw an impressive +7.4bhp increase and are delighted that the turbo back system has produced even bigger gains. This turbo back system utilises the factory valve actuators/motors to give you the quiet factory sound when running in eco mode, in this mode the sound produced by the system is kept to a comfortable level. Having driven both the resonated & non-resonated cat back system on a daily basis, I found the non-resonated to be slightly uncomfortable at motorway speeds, and slightly on the louder side for normal road use, although, nowadays I would class myself as the more mature driver. The Cobra Sport system really improves the drivability of this car and takes it to the next level".
Independent rolling road testing of the Golf MK7 resonated turbo back system with sports cat front pipe and aftermarket air intake revealed a +40.76bhp (30.4KW) power increase measured at all 4 wheels with the Golf R putting an impressive 270.61bhp (201.8KW) through the rollers. This testing was undertaken by a dealer in Australia in temperatures of 29.3 degrees celsius and an air density of 93.6%.
A substantial weight saving can also be achieved with the 3" turbo back system providing a whopping 35% decrease in weight from the Original Equipment version. The styling of the system is finished off with either quad 5" x 3" oval slash-cut tailpipes in stainless steel finish or the upgraded ceramic coated versions.
